Confirmed?: Erik Soler New RBNY Sporting Director

In a story broken by Viper's Nest contributor Who Shot Sam (aka Blue Note) on Big Soccer, it appears that Erik Soler (pictured above) has, indeed, been named RBNY Sporting Director. Well, it hasn't been Officially announced by RBNY, but if reports from the two biggest papers in Norway are to be believed, this is a done deal. You can click here and click here for the internet translations of those Norwegian newspaper stories. We first reported on this guy last week and I'm still wondering how he became a candidate for the position? I'm just hoping he does the right thing a hires Richie Williams as the next Head Coach. That might not be in his plans, however, as Who Shot Sam's post on Big Soccer mentions that Soler has another Norwegian, one Age Hareide, in mind for the Head Coach position. I'll ask again: Who?

In other Red Bulls news, Nick Zimmerman, the little used Red Bulls rookie Midfielder (best remembered for his Kareoke skills) was chosen today, by the Philadelphia Union, in the MLS Expansion Draft. It's too bad we have to lose a guy with a promising future, however it would have been worse for us to have lost either John Wolyniec or Mike Petke. Good Luck in Philly, Zimm!
