Good afternoon all! Another beautiful day here in Red Bulls land and our team is back in action @The Cathedral of Football. This time, it's a US Open Cup qualifier against the Colorado Rapids. The Red Bulls will, most likely, go with a mostly reserve lineup while the Rapids head coach has promised that “Four-fifths of the team will be first-team players". With that in mind, let's get to some predictions.
The great Matt Conroy (aka Who Shot Sam) has this for us:
Red Bulls 2 Colorado 0I also feel that if the Red Bulls reserves can hand the mighty Juventus a 3-1 loss, they can certainly do it to the Colorado Rapids so I'm also going to go with a Red Bulls victory by the score of 2-0.
The Baby Bulls proved what they can do against Juventus last Saturday and
now that we have a chance to advance to the US Open Cup I can't see how they
can let up now. Goals from Chinn and Garcia.
Homebrew Tim has this for us:
I'm having a hard time finding out which players either team is going to put on the pitch in tonight's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match. But no matter! Riding high off their ownership of Juventus, the Red Bulls will successfully complete their quest to qualify for the U.S. Open Cup this evening. Red Bulls 3-1 over Colorado. Goals to Nielsen, Chinn, and Ubi.And last, but not least, the one and only You Suck Corrales has this for us:
Well, so far it has been a week of ups and downs. Monday was fantastic as Red Bulls supporters ruined the Fox Football Fone In telecast from Nevada Smith's. In the process, they gave known Red Bull hater Eric Wynalda unbelievable levels of verbal abuse. Tuesday, not so good as the USA rolled over, in front of a highly partisan home crowd, to the Czech Republic. Let's hope today goes better. Honestly, I don't know what players Colorado will be using so it is hard to predict. I just hope Mr. Backe has his reserves up for this last stand in defense of the Cathedral. This is a huge game and the boys should be highly motivated no matter who Colorado brings. Again, this is another chance for Irving Garcia, and the like, to prove that they belong in the first team. I see no reason why they will not be motivated to lay down their lives for Mr. Backe and Uncle Dietrich. I am predicting 3-1 to the Red Bulls.Alrighty then! Check back soon, as we will have a game report with the usual videos and pictures within a day or two. Viper Out!
Oh, and if you can't make it, this match will be streamed live (click on the MLS Live tab), starting at 7:55pm, courtesy of the Red Bulls.
