RBNY vs Rapids: We're Off To Win The US Open Cup!

That's right! After defeating the Colorado Rapids, in a qualifier, by the score of 3-0, the Red Bulls are in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup proper. Another great performance by our reseve team, with goals from Woly (2) and Chinn. "Irvinho" Garcia once again made his case for inclusion in the starting eleven with another superb performance. Tony Tchani once again ruled the midfield, Carlos Mendes was outstanding at center back and Greg Sutton was solid in goal. Mr. Backe will have to make some hard decisions in the coming weeks before the World Cup break.

So who's next in the US Open Cup? We don't know yet, but it will be a lower division team and the game will be played on Tuesday, June 29th. I was told that our hosting that one will be determined by coin toss, but that's just what I heard at the game and I'm too lazy too try and look that up at this late hour. In the meantime, please enjoy part III of our usual stupid video tricks (above). Yes, part III is first, by request, as the great Matt Conroy (aka Who Shot Sam) has decreed it a classic. I'm thinking he's still drunk but you be the judge. You can check out part I by clicking here and part II by clicking here.

It was another great night at Red Bull Arena. It's too bad that these RBNY US Open Cup games aren't well attended, as they've been more fun than their MLS equivalents. Despite that, the supporters groups brought the noise the whole game and lots of beer was drunk. A great time was had by all!

Please click here for my photo album from this game or you can click here for the slideshow. If you missed the match, it's already archived at the Red Bulls video site (click on the MLS Live tab). I've been wanting to get a RBNY Warface for a few months now. To my surprise, they were finally on sale at the Red Bull Arena store. I had to buy one immediately! Check out the Warface-by-Design Facebook page by clicking here. I can't get up to New England this weekend but Matt will be there and he'll have lots of photos and video for us. That's all for now. Viper Out!
