Man, what a friggin finish! Juan Pablo Angel scored the greatest goal in his Red Bulls career to stop the rot that had beset the Red Bulls, in MLS play, and send the Houston Dynamo back to Texas with absolutely nothing. Sporting a four game MLS losing streak, the team looked ready to blow points at home once again. I was actually pretty glad that we were coming away with one, and not blowing the full three. The Colombian Assassin, however, was not satisfied with his performance and saved his best for last.
JPA really should have put away at least one of the three great chances he had earlier in the game. His complaints about not getting any service, and his very visible frustration on the field, have not gone down too well with the hardcore fans. The great You Suck Corrales, in fact, was demanding Angel's sacking after missing one too many chances in this game. YSC had to eat his words, however, when the legendary "Angel del Gol" gave us, probably, our greatest joy ever at a regular season match.
Right now, I'm finding it very hard to come up with a bigger regular season goal for us. That great 5 and 1 start to the season was just a distant memory and teams were having their way with us at home. The Dynamo were about to walk away with a point, when they should have been soundly beaten long before Angel's 93rd minute heroics. Last year's rot had set in and even one of our players had proclaimed he'd be happy with a point - AT HOME. JPA's heroics could not have come at a better time. He, singlehandedly, stopped the rot. Let's hope that the euphoria from this win leads to our team giving Chivas USA a beatdown on Saturday.
Please check out the video above. It's actually part III of my videos from this game and it documents Angel's 93rd minute strike and the insanity that ensued right after. Please click here for pre-game comments, click here for half-time comments and click here for full-time comments.

What a friggin atmosphere, yet again! I cannot stress enough how the support from the South Ward just drives the rest of the stadium. It's just magical, really, and light years away from what we had @Giants Stadium. Thank you Uncle Dietrich! We bask in your glory! A few more things:
The great Matt Conroy (aka Who Shot Sam) made a triumphant appearance on the Feuerstein's Fire show. Thanks Dan!
Check out this video of the Angel goal from the MSG feed. Just great scenes of the the celebration in the South Ward, as well as JPA's post-match interview.
Here's another view of the goal and celebration, from section 101.
Coach Backe wants to sign that Brazilian Center Back who's been here on trial.
