RBNY vs Galaxy: Don't Come Around Here No More

So much for a statement game! As the great Stevie Nicks once told Joe Walsh (and immortalized in the Tom Petty song): Don't come around here no more. That's the statement that the Red Bulls sent to the thousands of casual fans who made this game the first MLS sell-out ever @The Cathedral of Football. I guess it just wouldn't be us otherwise, eh? Three DPs on the field, home field advantage, sold-out stadium and a big, fat 1-0 loss to the visitors. As a matter of fact, it was a very non-DP-like blunder, by Rafa Marquez, that led to Edson Buddle's league leading 13th goal of the season, and handed the LA Galaxy all three points on offer.

After the game, Coach Backe was a bit critical of the performance of Juan Pablo Angel in this game. Seeds of discontent @RBNY? Nah, I doubt it. But maybe everyone's expectations for this season have to be lowered just a bit. It might take this season for everyone to gel, plus a key addition or two (superstar creative midfielder please!) next season, for RBNY to truly be an MLS Cup contender. Anyway, time to put this disaster behind us and look forward to three points @Toronto this coming weekend (yeah, easier said than done).

Great show by the ESC and GSS, especially with the Clint Matthis tribute. Not much of a good show from the idiots that ran onto the field near the end of the second half (that's a valuable minute lost you douchebags).
