RBNY vs Rapids: Home Sweet Home!

Our first home game of the 2012 season and it came not a moment too soon. The Red Bulls, reeling from an 0-2 start to this season, exploded for 4 goals to notch their first victory.

Two goals (from TH14 and KFC) within the first 6 minutes were enough to hand the high flying Colorado Rapids (sporting a 2-0 start prior to this one) their first loss of this young season. Two goals in the second half, again from Henry and Cooper, sealed the RBNY victory. Not even a golazo from Colorado's Omar Cummings was enough to dampen the absolute joy felt yesterday in Harrison.

Fantastic performances by Thierry Henry (who took home MLS Player Of The Week honors), Ryan Meara (voted Man Of The Match by the fans) and Kenny Cooper (his first brace as a Red Bull) whose signing is looking more a genius move game by game. Wilman Conde had a massive, massive debut as well. The Wolfman-Like Colombian Central Defender was a rock in central defence and even dished out an inspired assist on Thierry Henry's 2nd goal.

It was so great to be amongst my RBNY fanatic brothers and sisters again. I've said it time and time again - this is what I live for! It was another fantastic time in section 133. The South Ward brought the ruckus, yet again, and made the Cathedral of Football a cauldron of flags and noise. Chris Heck better get to work because http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifthe 23,000 tickets holders (the number rumored to have been sold, as of last Thursday) did not all show up (by a long shot). Hopefully this emphatic victory will do much to change the mood and get some of the long suffering Red Bulls fans, who chose not to attend this one, excited about this season.

Alrighty then! Hope to see you all next Saturday @The Cathedral of Football, Red Bull Arena (built by Makita). Viper Out!
