The New York Red Bulls continued their unbeaten streak (now stretching to 7 games) with a hard earned 2-2 draw against the visiting Columbus Crew. Colombian center back Jamison Olave was the hero as his stoppage time equalizer gave the Red Bulls a share of the spoils.
The Crew had gone ahead through a Dominick Oduro goal just two minutes into this one. Thierry Henry then equalized in the 31st minute with another of his patented Goal of The Week candidates. Henry nearly had the go ahead goal just seconds later but his effort just rolled wide of the far post. In the 72nd minute, a most controversial penalty was given to The Crew and their midfield maestro, Federico Higuain, made no mistake and the yellow-clad men from Ohio were ahead. That set the stage for Olave's 91st minute heroics.
RBNY Head Coach Mike Petke was livid at the referee after the match and made some shocking comments. He also stated that he didn't care if the League fined him and that "he had his check book out". Attaboy Mike! Thierry Henry might be in trouble for throwing an elbow at a Crew defender. Let's hold our collective breaths and hope this doesn't happen.
