RBNY vs Whitecaps: A Great White Shocker

The New York Red Bulls played their worst home game of the season and dropped all three points to the visiting men from 'The Great White North'. The Whitecaps, who hadn't won an away game in something close to a year, took advantage of shocking mistakes/crap play by RBNY to take all three points. If you haven't already read it, check out this great report (from Dan Dickinson) for some great analysis/post game commentary and you can watch the low-lights below.

Most of us thought this one was 'in the bag' and that three points were ours. The only hold-out was the great You Suck Corrales, who predicted a 2-0 Vancouver victory. Horror outings by Eric Alexander (the NOT so Great - who was reponsible for the first goal and countless bad crosses), Dax McCarty (multiple bad passes, including the one that led to Olave's red card) and Kosuke Kimura (ball watching mother f'er) ensured that YSC's prediction was just about right. I'll add Steele to the list of those who didn't play well (even though he caused the own goal) and Peguy, who missed a sitter at the end that has to be seen to be believed. As the great Matt Conroy said after the match, 'we've not been playing well these last few games and today we got what we deserved'.

So now we're on a three week break from MLS action, although there is that little matter of a US Open Cup away match @New England (who just destroyed the Galaxy 5-0) on the 12th. Let's hope lessons were learned and that Mr. Petke takes a full A squad to that one.

Please click here for a great photo album, courtesy of Matt Kremkau (slide show here) and here for a great one from Bob Larson (slide show here) who managed this 'action shot' of us at the top of 133.

Alright, let's hope for the best. I'll be down @The PPL for the away match against Philty on the 23rd. Hope to see alot of you there. If not, I hope to see you soon @The Cathedral of Football, Red Bull Arena (built by Makita). The big viper is out!
