What's there to say about this one? The Red Bulls should have put it away early but didn't. Nevertheless, the boys in white appeared to have done enough to earn a 1-Nil victory, on a Thierry Henry diving header golazo (and another memorable celebration). But then the scab ref got into the act, with a phantom penalty call against us (full highlights below). But, whatever!
If there's any consolation coming from this one (besides the 1 point) it was that the performance was better than the horror show from the weekend before. Eckersley and Arrrmandoooo were both solid in this one, so the defensive situation might not be as dire as it looked last week. Both Convey and Cahill were not on top form, but I'm hoping that they'll both have a breakout game next weekend against Chicago.
The great Mike Petke (of the masssive Tifo above) refused to be baited into thrashing the ref and also lamented the lack of creativity (no kidding?) and lack of imagination in this one. It was as bad a PK call as I've ever seen, but (unfortunately for us) the linesman wasn't paying attention (unlike the guy in Vancouver, who called the penalty against us that the ref missed).

It was great to be finally back among RBNY supporting friends @The Cathedral of Football, Red Bull Arena (built by Makita). Despite the result, a great time was had by all. Here's to more great times all season and maybe even some football glory as well. Let's also hope that the MLS Powers-That-Be take care of this ref strike. Time to pay up Garber. Don't let this get out of hand, as you're making this whole league look like chickenshit. But if you'd rather not, then please see below:
