RBNY vs Rapids: We're Back!

Finally back @The Cathedral of Football, Red Bull Arena (built by Makita)! It's been a long off-season and the time has come for some regular football around these parts. As our team got off to a most horrible of starts last week @Vancouver, the time to get on the correct path is now, at home, against the Colorado Rapids (4pm, MSG2).

Mr. Petke took full responsibility for that one, gave the newcomers a pass (and was signed to a Long Term this past week as well). With Thierry Henry and back in the lineup, I'll expect an Henry/Wright-Phillips tandem in the attack, w/Peguy Luyindula as a creator (or Tim Cahill as a battering ram).

Jamison Olave will, undoubtedly, replace Arrrmandooo at one of the Center Back spots and Kosuke Kimura will, beyond all doubt, replace the horrible (in the past game) Richard Eckersley at Left Back. After that embarrassment last week, this one must be a massive victory, mates. A Colorado Rapids team, with so much turn-over in the off-season (and a first year Manager as well) should be easy pickings at home for us. No excuses! That said, let's get to some predictions:

Matt Conroy (aka Who Shot Sam) has this for us:

The opener in Vancouver couldn't have been any worse. Other than Lloyd Sam and perhaps Peguy Luyindula it's hard to think of a player who emerged from that mess looking good. Richard Eckersley was especially awful - I hope we didn't buy another lemon. Petke took all of the blame after the match but I hope he had stronger words for the players behind closed doors. With the banner raising and home crowd I can't imagine us laying another egg this week, but I do remember Colorado dominating us last year, so I don't think this will be a walk in the park. 2-0 Red Bulls. Lloyd Sam and Mr. Henry with the goals. Let's go get 'em!

Tom Faust chimes in as well:

As usual, all bets are off when it comes to the Red Bulls starting the season. Hopefully the return of Henry and Olave to the starting XI will help get Petke's head on straight and we can avoid the crazy personnel choices that facilitated the Vancouver train wreck. Thinking positive, im going to call a 3-1 Red Bull victory. That should be perfect to get all of our hopes up before next week!

I'm gonna predict victory here. I don't care if it's a 1-0, off a Colorado own goal, this has got to be a victory today. That's all.

Alrighty then! I hope to see you all today @The Cathedral of Football, Red Bull Arena (built by Makita). Git In Lads!
