Crew vs Red Bulls: The Wright-Phillips Stuff (again)

Bradley Wright-Phillips just cannot stop scorin' mates! SWP bailed us out again, scoring the tying goal at Columbus and allowing the NY Red Bulls to get out of Cow Town with a 1-1 draw and a precious road point. This

It was a frustrating game as the Red Bulls should have had (at least) 2 goals at the break. Within the first ten minutes of this one, both Eric Alexander and BWP found themselves 1 on 1 against the Columbus keeper but, needless to say, they couldn't stick it into the back of the 'Ol Onion Bag'. Instead, Kosuke Kimura continued the RBNY habit of bad penalties given away (with 4 on the year now, we're on pace to absolutely shatter the MLS record) and the Crew walked off with a 1-Nil lead at the half.

The Crew could have been up by another 2 goals midway through the second have if not for a Columbus shot banging off the RBNY goal post and a massive, massive Luis Robles stop (dude came out of his box to snuff out a 1 on 1). The Red Bulls hung in there and, in the 66th minute, a nice Lloyd Sam cross found BWP in the box and the Englishman stuck it in like a Boss. All in all, a satisfying point. Not the 3 points that we needed, certainly, but we'll friggin' 'av it Lads!

Please see the above video for the usual drunken comments and predictions.

A fantastic drunken time with the Lads, including a massive pre-match BBQ! If you're ever in the Suffern, NY area, I implore you to check out Bobby Q's Smoke House - the home of the Carnivore Special (for 4). Many thanks to our host, the great Matt Kremkau for a great time, the beer and the great Steve Cangelosi, Shep Messing ( Wow! ) and Arnold Schwarzenegger impressions.
